Lisa’s Story

Lisa got lost while driving to Planned Parenthood and just wound up at Solutions, by accident, or so she thought at the time. Now she knows it was the Lord. Lisa remembers, as clear as day, walking through the front doors and feeling overwhelmed with warmth, love, and security (which meant a lot to someone who was pregnant, scared, and confused. She remembers the kindness in the woman’s voice at the front desk when she said, “may I help you?” Lisa told her she was lost (and she was on so many levels lost). The receptionist’s reply gave Lisa goose bumps, “ What makes you think you’re lost — maybe this is where you’re supposed to be!”

“It’s so wonderful that a place like Solutions exists. I can barely put my feelings into words without being overwhelmed by tears of gratitude.

I am truly grateful for Solutions and the miracle workers there. I have so many emotions in my heart — they saved my son’s life and my life too, (because I was dying on inside).”

And oh, it was! Lisa’s life was a train wreck at this particular time. Actually it wasn’t a life at all. It was a painful, empty, lonely existence. A place in time she calls the “dark place.” She felt hopeless, anguish and despair. Lisa felt trapped, especially because she thought she might be pregnant again. Lisa had 8-month old daughter at home. She was living with her daughter’s father who was abusive. The things he would say and do to Lisa were cruel and disturbing. She was living in a nightmare!

Lisa says she will never forget her experience with Solutions as long as she lives. It is where she first learned of the Lord and the Miracles He can perform in a person’s life. Lisa’s life began to change beginning that day. She stayed and got a free pregnancy test. The test confirmed her worth fear – she was indeed pregnant again! Then Lisa was offered a ultrasound exam – she thought she was dreaming — she couldn’t believe this was available free of charge. She walked into Solutions very unsure about having another baby, but after seeing her beautiful little baby during the ultrasound — she was no longer unsure. She knew the right thing to do – and it was not abortion!

Lisa quickly got involved in one of our mentoring programs that her counselor suggested. It was an eye opening experience for Lisa and she learned so much about the Lord, so many things that she never knew before. The most important was that God loves her just as she was -no matter what! And He is willing to forgive. The changes that took place in her life began slowly. In fact, things got worse before they got better. Lisa married the father of her children, but his drug addiction spun out of control, forcing her back into the single mother’s role. Now she had two children to care for, she moved several times in three years, and even lived in a Domestic Violence Shelter and a hotel room the size of a living room. During these times she held on to the Lord as hard as she could and things slowly got better. She now has an apartment, she is going to school and she is no longer living in an abusive environment. She still have hard times, the difference between then and know is Lisa has HOPE – She knows she’s not alone and that the Lord is good and faithful. He has promised to walk her through the trials of life.

Lisa attends one of our supporting churches and her former mother-in-law has recently also placed her faith and trust in the Lord.
